Derwent Mills Industrial Location

Derwent Mills Industrial Location is an excellent location to live and work. It has many large businesses which include major corporations, and is close to a number of cities. It is a wonderful place to retire or start your own business. The area is comfortable, affordable and offers the conveniences of urban life.

The area is a cultural environment that is home to a collection cotton generators from the 18th and early 19th century, along with housing for workers. It is known as the birthplace of modern manufacturing and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The most famous cotton mill is Cromford Mill, where Richard Arkwright first put his ideas into action.

These industrial sites were constructed to accommodate the revolutionary organic cotton spinning technology developed by Richard Arkwright in the 18th century. They soon became the model for factories around the world. The power for these machines was provided by the river Derwent and they were often constructed alongside other cotton mills. The site was eventually absorbed by the city of modern Derbyshire.

The industrial park program provides many houses for those who wish to start their own businesses. These properties are separated into 27 single-storey shop/business units which are set around courtyards designed to facilitate parking and circulation. They are built with metal portal frames, as well as strong concrete floors. They are also equipped with manually controlled up and loading doors with separate staff access. They are powered simply by three phases of electricity. They are equipped with EPC ratings that range from B47 to B48.
