Nine noble families fight for control of the lands of Westeros, while an ancient enemy returns from a thousand-year slumber. George R. R. Tywin Lannister: Any man who has to say „I am king” is not a true king. During the opening credits, each member’s name is accompanied by the insignia of his character’s house.
Hollywood’s Top Ten: Critics’ Choice Nominees: Drama (2011) Main Title (uncredited) Written and Performed by: Ramin Djawadi. In too much time, I gradually started watching Game of Thrones; from the very first episode (gradually, because it’s so crowded), I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it from friends, family, and IMDb reviewers. Plus, with such a great cast of talent and an excellent book series, how could it go wrong? The good news is that Game of Thrones didn’t go wrong. Not only is it the rare TV show that draws well from its original source material and treats it with respect, but it is one of the best, most exciting and most compelling shows in years.
The TV show is so brilliant that it is really worth checking out if it is made for TV, since everything is done to such a high standard that it puts many modern films to shame. It is one of the best examples of a well-respected show that deserves everyone’s praise. The scenery is spectacular throughout, the sets are very atmospheric and beautiful to look at, with lots of detail, and the costumes fit the characters perfectly. Additionally, the special effects are some of the best on TV and are not overused or overused, and the scale, detail, character and soul are better than many big-budget blockbusters. As is the cinematography and editing, which is also cinematic.
I cannot talk about Game of Thrones; without mentioning the thematically, orchestrally and atmospherically layered score and the unforgettable main theme. It’s hard not to be satisfied with the quality of the writing, excellent is not a strong enough adjective to describe how good the writing is. It always has a natural flow, is multi-layered and thought-provoking, and displays a wide range of emotions, such as gripping tension, gripping pathos, and witty humor. The plot is beautiful, constructed with such attention to nuance and care for coherence, high emotional levels, and deals with complex and sensitive topics with intelligence and tact. Whenever an event or a more action-oriented scene occurs, #39; there is always a reason, never because of it.
Not only is the detail done on an impressive scale, with excellent staging, excitement, and dramatic tension, but underneath all the scale and vivid attention to detail there is a lot of heart and layering. It is not too long and does not contain inappropriate elements. Game of Thrones has characters that are as well-developed and as close to real life as possible, despite being in a fantasy world. These characters are not hero and villain archetypes (only Joffrey comes close, but the difference is that he is an incredibly interesting character with a very developed persona that ranks well above one hundred percent on the threat level scale), they have, have much more, and have strengths and weaknesses. Decisions are logical and no character is less likable when a decision is wrong because they admit their mistakes and learn from them.
